Hello to the Hateful 8 (and those other two underachievers). We are talking all things Big XII in here and this week we have some great matchups. TCU is coming off a big win on the road and now looks to hold serve against a tough Baylor squad. Kansas State has to travel to Morgantown which has been no fun for anyone in this conference. Texas for another year in a row faces its favorite of opponents, those pesky Jayhawks, while Iowa State hosts the Red Raiders who are on the cusp of bowl eligibility. Finally, down in Norman we get the best-named rivalry in college football; it’s Bedlam week, baby. Let’s get after it.
#4 TCU at BAYLOR (11:00 AM CST, FOX)
TCU come get your flowers. As a touchdown underdog, Sonny Dykes took his team into Austin last week and proved damn near every national pundit wrong. The Horned Frogs are now 10-0 and so long as they keep winning, we’ll see them in the College Football Playoffs. Baylor on the other hand, is looking to play spoiler and get itself back into conference championship contention.
Just what do those Horned Frogs think of the Baylor Bears?
Shots fired Longhorns.
TCU knows they’ll have to play with some intensity on the road again, though.
And while some of the fans may be a little too confident…
Most of the Frog faithful know this one is always a close game.
The Bears, meanwhile, got stomped by Kansas State last week. Things are bleak in some spaces on the Baylor message boards.
Will this one come down to which team hates the other one more?
Probably not, but you know what will make a difference? Uniforms.
In this year’s installment of the Revivalry, TCU is a 2.5 point favorite on the road.
#15 KANSAS STATE at WEST VIRGINIA (1:00 PM CST, BIG 12 | ESPN+)
The Wildcats travel to West Virginia this weekend with much more certainty at the quarterback position. We never want to see injuries here, but after Adrian Martinez suffered a lower leg injury against Baylor, there’s no more controversy. And after last week’s performance by Will Howard, it’s safe to say confidence is high.
We’re just asking questions here.
For the most part, Wildcats know that West Virginia is a tough place to win, but the Kansas State squad should win this one going away.
Even bigger than getting Chris Kleinman’s first win in Morgantown? Clinching that spot in Arlington.
The Mountaineers are going into this one after a big win against the Sooners, but that didn’t do much to quiet the noise around Neal Brown’s future.
Is “Hire Deion” the new “Hire Urban”?
Like Kansas State, West Virginia is also seeing a change in quarterback, and like Kansas State, West Virginia’s confidence is running high.
And here’s to everyone’s favorite message board poster, HEART OVER TALENT!
West Virginia at home is taking the points, +7.5.
TEXAS AT KANSAS (2:30 PM CST, FS1)
Ooof. Sark.
OOOOOOOF. Bijan.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOF. Ewers.
Not much more to say about Texas, is there? They’ll look to bounce back on the road against Kansas. And if there’s anything we’ve learned the last five years or so, Texas playing Kansas at a pivotal point in the season always goes well for the Longhorns.
Kansas on the other hand still loves you Bijan, don’t worry.
The Jayhawks do look like they might get Jalon Daniels back this week and that’s got them excited.
Fan predictions are split on this game.
The Longhorns go into Kansas with the line at -9.
TEXAS TECH at IOWA STATE (6:00 PM CST, FS1)
The Red Raiders are looking to get bowl eligible this year and are going on the road to face a Cyclone team that has lost six of the last seven. It will be a very cold night in Ames when this one goes off.
Global warming? Never heard of her.
With the wind and the cold, Raiders fans are torn on this one.
Cyclone fans don’t love the cold either.
Getting old sucks.
Iowa State is the home favorite, -3.5.
OKLAHOMA STATE at OKLAHOMA (6:30 PM CST, ABC)
Bedlam. The best rivalry nickname in sports and the best matchup in the Big 12 this week. Oklahoma sits at 5-5, trying to get bowl eligible this year. Oklahoma State comes in at 7-3 and Spencer Sanders comes back this week.
Some fans are having flashbacks to a darker time.
OU fans are struggling going into this rivalry.
Hey bmrsntrae, how’s it going?
The ranked Cowboys are getting no respect, they’re a 7.5 point underdog on the road.
