Always Be Crootin’

It’s that time of the week to talk about everyone’s favorite college football subject. Those stupid wins and losses don’t matter anymore, we’re all hope and delusion here. That’s right. We’re talking about the talent of 17- and 18-year old kids and you better believe our favorite message board geniuses have thoughts. For reference, we’ll always use 247 composite rankings. Let’s do this.

Alabama Lands Julian Sayin (2024 5 Star – #14 overall, #2 QB)

Nick Saban and Bill O’Brien may have had a rough weekend in Baton Rouge, but last week they landed a top tier prospect. Because, ya know, what they’ve really been missing has been top tier talent. Julian Sayin is out of Carlsbad, California. The younger brother of UPenn starting quarterback Aidan Sayin (shoutout Quakers) is the number two quarterback in the 2024 class and just wrapped up a 9-1 season in his junior year.

But even when you get a top recruit, it’s always a good time #FireEveryone

Fans are already wondering how this affects 2023 QB commits Eli Holstein and Dylan Lonergan.

Must be nice to have those sorts of problems.

LSU Grabs Colin Hurley (2024 4 Star – #150 overall, #11 QB)

Colin Hurley was one of the top QB recruits in 2025. He decided it was a great day to be a tiger and reclassified to 2024, joining Brian Kelly’s family. The kid is special and will likely step foot on campus at the age of 17. He’s out of Trinity Christian in Jacksonville, Florida and he may not be able to get a driver’s license yet, but he has Tiger fans excited.

And he’s not just good on the field. The kid is smart. And a leader. And will win championships. Apparently.

It’s on the internet so it must be true.

Demarcus Riddick Got That Dawg in Him (2024 4 Star – #43 overall, #2 Linebacker)

Out of Chilton County, Alabama, Demarcus Riddick is taking his talents to Athens, Georgia. We’ll let his head coach do the talking here. “Pure athleticism here,” Chilton County coach Marvin Morton said. “He’s somebody that you can tell just has that athletic ability about him. Probably the most athletic kid I’ve coached in my career.” Georgia now sits at the top of the team recruiting rankings for 2024.

Safe to say Georgia’s Linebacker coach Glenn Schumann has pretty good job security.

Have you heard the word? Georgia is now LBU and Bama has been dead in the water since Kirby took over.

Nobody tell Nick and Pete.

Anthony Hill Says Adios to A&M (2023 5 Star – #17 Overall, #1 Linebacker)

Decision respected. Anthony Hill has an offer from nearly every top school in the country. He had committed to the Aggies back on July 30, but in the midst of a five-game losing streak, Jimbo and Durkin are having a tough time convincing these players to stay the course.

Schadenfreude levels were alarmingly high in Austin, Texas after this announcement came down.

Though A&M fans don’t share the sentiment.

We’ll keep an eye on this one for y’all and perhaps next week we’ll again be featuring Mr. Hill in our weekly recruiting article.
