Top 5 Matchups of Week 5

Week 5 brings us a number of great games so it was hard to narrow them down but we can all agree these look like five great games.

#2 Alabama at #20 Arkansas

A top-20 matchup hits Fayetteville as the Crimson Tide rolls into town. The Razorbacks have turned the affair into a red-out and will host a number of high-profile recruits. Arkansas fans see the opportunity ahead of them on Saturday but a large portion of them aren’t optimistic the team can capitalize.

Alabama fans feel good about their chances but not without worry. After the one-point win over heavy underdog Texas, and last year’s lackluster showing against Auburn, there’s cause for concern.

Will Anderson said earlier this week that he gets mad at the other team just for showing up, maybe his teammates don’t feel the same?

Even if Alabama shows up with a heart full of hate, Arkansas can still surprise them. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm Eastern.

#10 NC State at #5 Clemson

This game has been eyeballed since the preseason as arguably the ACC’s most impactful conference game. This one is shaping up to be a defensive battle but the Wolfpack should have a chance in the passing game.

The Clemson fans seem primed to see NC State on the field.

NC State fans have felt good about this one for a while now.

The Wolfpack defense is allowing less than 180 passing yards a game so far this season and ranks 10th in rushing defense. Clemson ranks eighth in the country against the run but 92nd against the pass. Both teams are pedestrian on offense so expect the defenses to reign. The day’s main attraction looks like it could be a classic. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm Eastern.

#7 Kentucky at #14 Ole Miss

This game feels overlooked but it’s a top 15 matchup between two up-and-coming SEC programs led by coaches whose names are already popping up in relation to current or future coaching vacancies.

Those aren’t the Russians Ole Miss fans, it’s Auburn boosters looking for Tuberville 2.0. #barnsburning

Ole Miss fans are excited for the game, as are Kentucky fans, but there’s an uneasiness on both sides out of mutual respect… or is it?

This should go down as one of the day’s tightest games so be sure to catch it. Kickoff is scheduled for noon Eastern.

#9 Oklahoma State at #16 Baylor

The Baylor Bears play host to the Oklahoma State Cowboys at 3:30 pm Eastern on Saturday. Baylor is currently a 2-point favorite in what can be a preview of a future Big XII conference without Texas and Oklahoma. It’s an attractive matchup on national television in a great time slot so these Cowboys fans hope their team shows out on Saturday.

Baylor’s boards are stale which is sad because they have a good football team. I mean it’s not like there’s anything to do in Waco anyways. It’s only known for a bad reason, everything about Baylor is best described as “wholesome,” and those Grimes folks tricked y’all into live, laugh, love-ing an entire town. I’m sure it’ll be a fun game to watch on TV though. (I’m sorry cousin Kaitlin.)

#22 Wake Forest at #23 Florida State

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons bring the nation’s 16th-ranked passing offense into Tallahassee to face Florida State’s 16th-ranked defense in terms of passing yards allowed. The rest of the numbers lean in the Seminoles’ favor but is it enough?

Wake fans are, uh, what?

I love the gumption Deacs fans.

Florida State fans have something more important than the game happening right now. I speak for many when I say thoughts and prayers to all those affected by Hurricane Ian.

That being said, some are using it for hate fuel which is vital to my job so thank you.

Wake Forest’s passing game should keep them in the thick of things, but is it enough to overcome Florida State’s stout secondary? Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm Eastern.

Everyone please enjoy your Saturday safely.
