With Scott Frost out as the Nebraska Cornhuskers Head Coach, we’ve screened the message boards for the top candidates to replace him.

What’s old is new, right? Frank Solich recently retired after coaching for Ohio for 16 seasons. For the record, he is 78 years old now.

Kirk Ferentz as the next Nebraska Cornhuskers Head Coach? No, I’m not seeing it. But we are happy to give you guys Brian.

Kendal Briles is an interesting choice. The lesser known Briles is currently the relatively successful OC and QB coach for Arkansas. With all of his roots in the state of Texas, would he want to move to a conference without a Texas team?

Does he really fit in with the culture of Lincoln, Nebraska? Is there a single time you listened to one of his interviews or press conferences and said, “wow, that guy is quintessential Nebraska”?

Jim Tressel is an interesting name. He left athletics to a degree when he became the President of Youngstown State University, but maybe he wants to return? His roots seem pretty grounded in the state of Ohio. I wonder who this guy’s sources are…

A guy with 28 years of ties to the University of Utah and no ties to anywhere in the Midwest is going to come to Nebraska? I’m guessing he wasn’t mentioned in any of the other 16 threads, but like you, I’m too lazy to sift through it.

A true message board genius is one that knows when his or her knowledge is virtually non-existent. Touché sir or madam and good luck (but not too much) with whoever does become the next coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
