Step Back From That Ledge, Husker Fan

I wish you would step back from that ledge, husker friend. You could cut ties with all the lies that you’ve been living in.

Did the 1997 alternative rock draw you in? Good. Let’s talk, Cornhusker fans.

There’s a lot of these tweets and message board posts after the crushing loss to Northwestern. Heck, we even had an article about it here on Sunday. But contrary to my fandom, I do not intend to rub salt on that open wound. I’m here to tell you that the world is not falling and the season is not over.

Let’s talk about that onside kick. It was 28-17 and the momentum was all on Nebraska’s side until they called an onside kick and failed. Is that the whole truth though?

You’re the first to fight; you’re way too loud.

The Husker defense ultimately wore down because of Northwestern’s persistent run game. Having a bit of killer instinct to put them away makes sense if you saw that gradually happening, right? Unfortunately, some of us remember how Northwestern beat Iowa in 2020.

Exactly! Iowa fans hate hearing it, but there’s an element of truth to that complimentary football concept. With a lead, it doesn’t make as much sense playing as fast, offensively, as the Cornhuskers did. Slow it down, take time off the clock, and give your defense some time to breath. This is fixable.

Seriously watch this a few times and tell me that you’ve completely given up on your team. Your QB has a Johnny Football essence to him. He is going to win you some games.

Well everyone I know has got a reason to say put the past away.

Don’t forget the past. The national championships of the last 60 years still count. Nebraska only had one season from 1962 to 2001 with more than 3 losses in the season. That is an incredible run. But that isn’t where we are now. A rebuild at UCF isn’t the same as a rebuild at Nebraska. I know there was a lot of excitement prior to this game, and there still should be, but let’s not expect 1995 right after 2021.

But there is a true culprit that we haven’t been talking about…

If you do not want to see me again, I would understand.

Last week, I knowingly incited Fitz Rage with my Big Ten Predictions.

Football wizard, Pat Fitzgerald, has claimed his first even year victim in the most Pat Fitzgerald way. I apologize to everyone I have wronged with such a careless prediction. We all know what is going to happen next.

I will be here every week for a CFB Therapy Session. I hope your team doesn’t make an appearance.
