The college football world mourned yesterday. Not just for the Horned Frogs performance on Monday, but for the end of the 2022-23 College Football Season. Congratulations to the Georgia Bulldogs! Back to back national championships is rarified air but they have earned their place. And genuine congratulations to TCU on a phenomenal year, as well as the rest of the final top 10: Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Penn State, Washington, Tulane (!!!), and Utah.
Thankfully for all of us degenerates, the recruiting season is always in full swing. We’re a few weeks out from the second National Signing Day and there are still some big fish to reel in. So get yourself another cup of the office coffee because we’re bringing the latest in commitments and closers.
Oregon Picked by Ashton Porter (2023 4 Star – #329 Overall, #45 Defensive Line)
Oregon had themselves an outstanding signing day and don’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. Porter is a twitchy athlete with a good frame. He put all of it on display at the Under Armour game this past week where he committed to the Ducks.
Oregon fans are feeling good about this recruiting class, Porter in particular.
You can’t please everyone though.
It’s going to be a long offseason y’all. Take your time, keep a level head, and don’t feed the trolls.
Nebraska and Rhule Grab Two Defensive Standouts
Ethan Nation (2023 3 Star – #463 overall, #49 Cornerback)
First up is Ethan Nation out of Roswell, Georgia. A bit undersized at 5’10, 165, Nation plays big and held his own during practices at the Under Armour game.
If he’s good enough for the Steelers, he’s good enough for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Cameron Lenhardt (2024 4 Star – #308 overall, #37 Edge)
The second commitment the Cornhuskers got was from Cameron Lenhardt out of IMG in Florida. Cameron is 6’3, 250 and was also a UA All-American this year. He had been committed to Nebraska back in September before opening his recruitment back up, but Rhule was able to bring Mr. Lenhardt back on board.
There was some hesitancy from the Lincoln crowds that recruiting might suffer in a transition year. They aren’t hesitant anymore.
Mikal Harrison-Pilot Lands on Houston (2023 4 Star – #150 overall, #8 Athlete)
Pilot flies down the field with elite speed at the high-school level, notching top speeds in his division across the state at the 100M and 200M. Mikal is 6’0, 190 and has the ability to play wide receiver or safety.
Pilot’s father played at Houston so this was a big get for the Coogs.
A lot of credit here to Dana and WR Coach Daikiel Shorts Jr.
Caden Jones Commits to Florida (2023 4 Star – #493 overall, #36 Offensive Tackle)
Caden is a massive individual already, checking in at 6’8, 325. Scouts like his frame but have also been impressed with how well the New Orleans native moves.
We all know everything said on message boards is the truth. Either way, Billy Napier has done a solid job on the recruiting trail and Gator fans have noticed.
Illini Welcome Malik Elzy (2023 4 Star – #305 overall, #43 Wide Receiver)
From the Windy City, Elzy blew on down to Urbana-Champaign this weekend. He’s 6’2, 204 and an excellent route runner. He picked the Illini over Wisconsin, Cincinnati, and Auburn.
Illinois is getting excited for next year and it’s nice to see they’re keeping expectations realistic.
Georgia Gets More Talent in Peyton Woodyard (2024 4 Star – #29 overall, #2 Safety)
Folks down in Athens are going to be drinking for quite awhile so someone remind them this weekend that they also added a top tier recruit for 2024. Woodyard is an elite Safety out of St. John Bosco in California.
Woodyard is a great start for the Bulldogs’ 2024 class which should make a run for number one with any luck.

Louisville Doubles Down on Talent
Jamari Johnson (2023 4 Star – #421 overall, #26 Athlete)
First up is Jamari Johnson from Inglewood, California. Johnson is a 6’4, 270 Athlete will likely play Tight End for the Cardinals. He chose the Cardinals over a host of other schools including Oregon, Cincinnati, Pitt, and Arizona.
Johnson’s size and intangibles have the Louisville faithful making some bold claims.
TJ Capers (2024 5 Star – #7 overall, #2 Edge)
TJ is definitely a pro prospect and the Miami, Florida native has the Derby City celebrating.
It’s a long way to signing day, however and Louisville will have to do a heck of a lot better on the field next year to hold to the top 2024 target.
But hey, it’s always nice to steal a big time recruit from the big teams.

Texas Gets Athlete Jelani McDonald (2023 4 Star – #95 overall, #17 Wide Receiver)
Jelani is from Waco, Texas and was a three-sport athlete for Connally High, lettering Basketball, Track and Field, and Football. He’ll likely play in a linebacker/nickel hybrid role for Pete Kwitatkowski.
Jelani had some fun with his commitment at the Army All-American Game. He wanted to give a special thanks to “the all pretty ladies that came out.”
Pretty ladies or not, Texas built a top 5 class in 2023 and fans noticed.
Auburn Picks Up Two Secondary Players
Tyler Scott (2024 3 Star – #446 overall, #43 Cornerback)
Scott committed to the Tigers during the Army All-American game. He’s a top defensive back out of Georgia and isn’t afraid to get physical with his 6’1, 195 frame.
And two days later, the secondary got even better.
CJ Johnson (2023 3 Star – #728, #62 Safety)
CJ is from Katy, Texas and Auburn is adding another big body as Johnson is 6’3, 200.
With that kinda size, the Tigers already have new scheme ideas.
